When the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island presents The Mikado: A Long Island Fantasy at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater at The Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington, on June 25, 2022, at 8 p.m., it will be more than a return to one of the company's favorite and longest-running Long Island venues. It will also bring the production itself home, because Tony Tambasco's innovative production resets the opera from 19th-century Japan to the North Shore of Long Island in the 1920s, the height of the Jazz Age.
