Forced to twice postpone its 2020 production of The Mikado due to the pandemic, which has prevented music groups from rehearsing or performing together, the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island has announced plans for a full-length, online feature film featuring dozens of the company's members, past and present. Based on Gayden Wren's 1995 play of the same name and directed by the author, Very Truly Yours, Gilbert & Sullivan will tell the story of the collaboration of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, using modern technology to enable actors and singers working in isolation to nonetheless sing solos, duets, trios, quartets and choruses, read dialogue and even dance together. It is expected to debut in the spring of 2021.
