Tennessee Walt, best known in the New York area for lecture/concert shows focusing on the classic country music of the 1930s-1960s, will showcase a different sound on Monday, June 25, when he presents his first-ever full-length program consisting only of his own original country songs.
"Usually the originals are my encores," Walt said, "but I've been writing for almost three years now and I've got a lot of songs that I think people will like, songs that I'm proud of. Squeezing one in occasionally as an encore isn't enough--it's time to go public with them."
"Sounds Like Country from Here: Songs by Tennessee Walt" will be presented on Monday, June 25, at 7 p.m. at Don't Tell Mama, the legendary New York cabaret on 46th Street in Manhattan. It's one of Walt's favorite Manhattan venues, and he's appeared there twice before, but never there--or anywhere--with an all-originals program.
